You can always scan to a zip/flash drive in the USB port and then insert it in the computer. I'm not sure how to fix the direct scan, but thought this might help.

Please go on line to HP printers and look for printer drivers ; then locate the name of HP Envy 7640 and it should give you instruction on downloading your drive device
