You didn't mention your PC brand or model - could be power limitations or hardware conflicts or even a BIOS setting but the best advice I can give if you want to run two monitors add a video card designed for that. Many "stock configurations" limit you to one or the other, not both. Best yet - check online about your PC and see if what you are attempting can be done.
