Ace here - can your provide links to the alternative recommendations, should I need to buy on Amazon? I've tried the USB port, via both a direct connection and through a Startech adapter, but neither method worked.

To use a second display, you would need to use the USB-C port as that supports DisplayPort-out. You can then connect this either to a USB-C dock or a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter for your monitor.
