“I inserted a 5x7 photo card into the slot and tried to print a picture, but it says I have to insert a memory card. Is that a typical memory card we use for everything nowadays, and does it go in that little left sided round door? Thanks.”

Hi Kenny, thank you for the question. With the Envy 7155, you can print from your computer, from a memory card placed in the slot, or from your Smartphone using the HP Smart App. A memory card is an SD card (secure Digital card) that may be from your camera, your phone, or even used in your computer, if your computer has an SD slot. Yes, the memory device goes in the area to the left. In what "slot" are you loading 5 x 7 photo cards? Paper on which you'll be printing goes in the paper tray at the bottom.
