The memory you buy is the level you are stuck with because they are soldered in place, so don't skimp on the memory capacity. I got 8 GB and the 512GB SSD. The SSD is supposed to be upgradeable but it you think you may need a TB then get a machine with a 1 TB drive. Buying a machine that you will outgrow in 2 years is a poor way to save money
