Yes. I am a college student and I love this laptop and I have taken it on road trips. I didn't use it to watch movies.

If you're on the road and want to watch movies that are online, you will need an internet connection to stream the movies. You can use a hotspot for that. If the movies are on DVD, you will need to purchase an external USB DVD/CD drive because the laptop does not have a DVD/CD drive built-in. The charger is an AC adapter that you will need to plug into the wall. It takes a few hours to completely charge the computer. I hope this helps.
