My printer research (internet writings by supposed printer technically savvy people) found that laser printers are generally less expensive to support - i.e., laser printer toner v.s. ink jet printer ink cartridges. Also, ink jet cartridges can quickly dry out making them unusable. Toner can cake but can be shaken in order to print.

LaserJet printer out put is not degradable and has excellent text and image quality. LaserJets are mostly business class printers.
