• One cartridge is the black and the other is a tri-color cartridge. If one color runs out you need to replace the whole cartridge. It is a HP62 cartridge.

• This printer only has 2 cartridges. One is the black cartridge and one is the tricolor cartridge. When ink is low on the printer, the screen gives you warning messages to notify you of the low ink. If you click on the ink droplet button on the bottom of your printer's screen, it will display the ink levels of the printer. Simply change the one that is low.
