The USB printer cable does not come included with the printer so it will have to be purchased separately. You will need to install the printer's driver to the computer to use all of the printer's features. Normally, the computer automatically searches for and installs a driver when you plug it in via USB to the computer. If you set it up wirelessly, you will need to install the driver yourself. You can find the driver software in the CD that comes with the printer or you can download it from the HP drivers webpage. I hope this helps.
