“Does the printer have to connect to a PC? Can this printer just be hooked up to the cable companies modem or does it have to be connected through a laptop or PC?”

This printer was made to operate wirelessly. That being said...I have mine connected to my HP printer with a cable. This is the second HP wireless printer I have purchased from HP. I am using the cable that came with the HP printer that I was using before I bought the first HP wireless printer. It works just fine. If you DO NOT have a cable from a non-wireless printer, you should be able to buy one from HP on the the internet-or Check with Office depot, Best Buy or staples-they all carry HP printers, and should be able to sell you a cable that will allow you to Hook Up the wireless printer to your computer-which is how non-wireless printers ar hooked up to the computer. That way, if you have photos on your hard drive, you can access them by using going to "My Photos", or what ever name your stored photos are listed under
