“Is this printer designed to print photos efficiently?”

• As there is no dedicated "Photo tray" like the Photosmart HP printer series (I one wone of those as well JUST for printing photos), I wouldn't say it prints photos "efficiently" but it WILL print gorgeous photos by removing the standard letter paper from the tray and loading photo paper instead.

• This HP Printer has Print Quality, Color Best Up to 4800 x 1200 optimized dpi on HP Advanced Photo Paper from 1200 x 1200 input dpi resolution to print photos.
