We purchased our printer about 2 months ago and have been completely satisfied with it. Our unit is connected via wifi. When it times out the screen goes to sleep (we have not adjusted any of the settings).

If it is not going to sleep then I would wonder if it is constantly receiving information through the networked connection. I would reach out to HP Support at 800-HP-Invent to troubleshoot what is going on to make sure everything is in good order.
