You should be able to change any hard drive to SSD. Just ensure they are the same physical size. Normally 2.5 inch. Also, do a little research to ensure the SSD you purchase is fully compatible with your computer. I've heard the the controllers on some SSD's will not allow the full throughput allow on the SATA connection. For instance if your SATA connection is 3.0Gbs an incompatible controller may negotiate a lesser speed for example 1.5Gbs.
