Thank you for the question. Open box items and refurbished items are different. Open box means that the item is typically an in-store return with limited to no use. Sometimes just opened to show a customer the item and it never left the store. Or the customer opted for another model and returned it during the return date window. Refurbished items are tested, cleaned, and repaired (if needed) to work like new ones. The manufacturer's warranty on open box items may be the same as for new unopened product, whereas refurbished items typically have a 90-day warranty from the seller. You should verify that before making a purchase. We cannot accurately tell you how long a computer will last, as there are many variables, probably 50% of them being how well the user takes care of the computer over time. It is not unheard of for a computer to last a user 10 years or more, with careful ownership.
