Yes, you should be able to simply remove the old memory and insert the new. However, it is relatively major computer surgery (you'll need to remove several components to get to the RAM), so unless you're experienced working on laptops, your best option would be to have someone who's familiar with the process do the work. The Geek Squad at your local Best Buy would be a good choice.
