Looking through the side window now of my Omen 30L, and there are two 8 GB RAM sticks, not one 16 GB stick.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The picture that shows one stick of ram is the 8GB option. You can tell because the GPU is a 1660. The 16GB option comes with two 8 gig sticks.

Good news, bad news.... If you are going to keep the system running 16gb of ram for the foreseeable future, then HP should replace it. It's called DDR for a reason and they work better in tandem. Call HP and insist they replace with 2 x 8gb. Or they should give you a really good deal on another 16gb stick for the trouble. Check prices first, don't pay their normal exorbitant price. One the other hand, if you were planning to upgrade to 32gb ram in the near future it's a good thing to have the open slot. Many will buy one 16gb stick and replace one of the 8gb sticks, giving them 24gb...but it's not as efficient usage. Being able to buy one 16gb stick is very convenient. Pull the ram stick and get the model, part #, spec.s off the label. BTW, HP restricts ram clock speed, slowing to 2400MHz Not good out of principle, but you won't notice probably. Here is the HP product page with specs for upgrades: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06614079 Speed: PC4-25600 MB/s Type: DDR4-3200 https://www.userbenchmark.com/ Click download button...run .exe file check how your system is running compared to others w/same specs. https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/omen-30l-gt13-0024
