The answer from HP Support is not true. This comes with a weird gooseneck that the monitor snaps in to. If you remove it, it leaves a rectangular post sticking out about 2 inches. The only way to make this work with a standard vesa mount is to find a 3rd party solution on Etsy for about $30. It doesn't allow you to use the cover anymore, so you'll want it against a wall since it's pretty ugly.
