It is analog (the old blue one) and HDMI only. on the back of the monitor. I use HDMI cable from monitor to laptop.

This monitor has 2 HDMI jacks and a VGA jack. The monitor includes a VGA cable.

So if your laptop has a VGA output, you don't need anything extra. However, if your laptop has an HDMI jack, you should get an HDMI cable. 

If your laptop only has DVI or DisplayPort outputs, you'll need an adapter cable with the correct plug on one end and an HDMI plug on the other end.

You can use Standard VGA connector cable from your desktop or laptop. It does also comes with 2 x HDMI ports, if your laptop or desktop has HDMI connection, normal HDMI cable would do the job for you.

Most laptops nowadays has an hdmi port and you can connect it with the hdmi cable. If your laptop only has a vga port then you will need the vga cable (usually a blue cable or a cable where the connectors ends are blue).

Without seeing your laptop, my answer is only a guess. Try the HDMI connection if your laptop has that. Otherwise, try the VGA. If your laptop has neither, you may not be able to do this.
