To charge the screen, must it be attached to the base? null

You should not have to be attached to the keyboard to charge the HP 10-k020nr.

The tablet has the micro usb charging plug. The keyboard does not charge at all and takes its power from the tablet. Similar to the thin Surface keyboard.
