I wanted to answer my own question since I've already installed Linux and wanted to put the specific issues (very few, surprisingly). - Run the 4.6 kernel as the Intel wifi drivers are already included (Kali Linux installs Debian Jessie / kernel 4.3 and I had to do a separate download from Intel to get / compile the drivers). It also takes care of a weird power thing dealing with one of the interrupts. (pegs proc0) - I had a few small issues around Bluetooth speaker detection but it turned out to be a Debian Jessie issue. If you wind up running Debian, there's a really good walkthrough of the fix on unix stackexchange (article ID 159881). Everything else works out-of-the-box and it's a nice little platform for Linux...
