• The ram is removable, so yes it could replaced with larger modules. However, 8gb is typically more than enough for all modern games. Adding more ram won't significantly increase speed unless you're using a ton of applications simultaneously. You'd see a bigger increase in performance by replacing the 1TB HDD with an SSD.

• Yes, is DDR3 12800 but is low voltage. Keep that in mind.
