Yes it can.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As far as I can tell, no. You can only upgrade to WIn 10. But, if you download any apps before you do that, you most likely won't have enough disk space to download the new OS. My solution for that was to download the Win 10 starter files to a 32 G flash stick, and install Win 10 from there. It worked just fine. I was later given the option to remove the old Win 8.1 to free up disk space on drive C, which I did do with no problems.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. When you buy the laptop it comes with windows 7 or 8, I'm not positive. but from there you have to do the upgrade to get windows 10 for free. so if you never upgrade it, then I guess you would have the lower version of windows. so you can't downgrade it, but you can not upgrade it in the first place. hope this was helpful
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi, Yeah, I like Windows 7 also, and I'm sure you can, but the issue will be drivers for your hardware. Not all hardware will allow you to "downgrade" their drivers. I recommend you actually call HP and ask their tech support. I tried to downgrade one of my laptops back to Windows 7, and the network card won't take the driver for windows 7 or the 8 drivers either. So I have a laptop that won't go online. Too bad for me, so be careful.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.mine came packaged with Windows 10, but I'm sure if you wanted to purchase a key for Windows 7, you would be able to do a fresh install..
