Yes you can. What you're referring to is that they will auto ship ink to you on a monthly basis if you do their subscription (not required). Thats all that they mean by that.

If you wanted to, you could print 100 full color 8.5" x 11" photos. You will find that it is a lot cheaper than a set of ink. And you will never be without ink.
