It really shouldn't be a problem-people fly with laptops every single day. The TSA may want you to turn it on to prove that it's really a laptop, so carrying it in the box may be an issue, because the inital setup process can take some time. Probably the best option would be to take it out of the box, do the initial setup, and then put it in a laptop bag for the trip.
