Hello, I see that you are interested in knowing if the the keyboard on the HP X2 needs to be charged separately than the screen. All parts to this laptop charge together, so when the touchscreen is attached to the keyboard it becomes active and ready to use. Hopefully that helps you out, and thanks again for choosing HP.
