You can connect to WiFi the of box yes. But you should really connect with either net i tried WiFi and got 10mb compared to wire 100mbs. As for monitor I purchased the Asus 4K monitor 28 in with 60hrtz and 1ms respond time and its is nice so far I believe it was on sale when I purchased and got it I think for 400

As I recall the unit did a search on initial start-up and I chose the connection and entered the passcode. I personally think the 4K monitors are sweet ,but I couldn't spend the xtra $ and got an LG UltraWide L E D
