Would this computer have any problems? -- I bought, set-up and have been playing games on it for a good 7 months now (I can play Skyrim with graphic enhancing mods pretty well, though I needed to reduce my resolution to get smoother gameplay) without any major issues, so you're good in the technical department. However, if you're looking for a gaming rig, this is not it. The graphics card barely makes the cut for today's games and you're going to need to add another 8 G stick of ram if you want better performance. Other than that, it's a good computer for a good price.
Would this be good for school work? -- Very much yes, but keep in mind that this doesn't come with a dvd/cd drive so you won't be able to install anything that comes on a dvd or cd. You'll need to purchase an external drive for that. Those aren't too expensive if you need one.

The speed at which your computer runs will be dependent on what applications you run while you are playing the games. If you try to download something that exceeds your storage space, the computer will not break down. The computer will simply not let you finish the download.
