It is possible, however, if you are not experienced in swapping out intel processors I wouldn't recommend it. The pins that are used to make the processor work are on the motherboard itself so it's EXTREMELY easy to bend the pins and ruin the board. Also, I would just get another 8gb stick of ram. That will still get you the dual channel performance increase, but also give you far more memory to play around with.
