“What is this computers base resolution and how do I tell what monitor will work with it? I have tried a couple older monitors / tv's for temp monitors with an hdmi cable and nothing will work with the PC. But they will with my old laptop.”

Hello, Computers don't really have a base resolution, they are supposed to work with many different resolutions, and this system should be able to to work with any of them. When you are connecting the monitor to the PC, please remember to plug in the HDMI cable to the graphics card and not the motherboard, that could be why it isn't working.
