• Yes, it has a slim remote. I doubt most universal remotes would come with pre-loaded codes for this brand, but a learning universal remote (which learns IR codes from any device's original remote) would do it.

• No. They are not remotely controlled. Which is fine with me. My old ihome radio was and sometimes it would come on while trying to change the volume on my TV.
