- Answer The battery powers the alarm system. The clock will not work but your alarm will still sound when time,.. thus preventing you from oversleeping should your power fail in the middle of the night

- Answer This unit does NOT run on batteries. The batteries are a backup in the event of a temporary power outage. This unit must be plugged in to a wall outlet at all times.

- Answer Yes, to adjust the brightness of the display, touch the Snooze/Display Dimmer Bar during normal operation (when no alarm is sounding) to cycle through the brightness display settings, including OFF.
