There is no noticeable delay. The shredder can be set to run automatically when it senses paper, or it can be turned off and the shredding process started manually. There is also a reverse setting if the error is realized after the shredding has begun.

There is a delay when you first place something into the shredder. If you place documents back to back into the shredder it will continue to shred without any delay.
