• chances are it has a blocked sensor. Try getting a cleaner or shredder oil to clear slot.

• Get rid of it, and by the 10 piece vertical top loading one. I bought the one you have initially, and hated it. Couldn't get it to work unless the paper was perfectly flat and even, and that was one page at a time.....there was no success trying to shred anything more than one sheet. Totally unacceptable for my needs. I exchanged it out for the 10 sheet model, and it works awesome and leaves no mess when emptying since you just slide the bucket out instead of having to take the top of and excess ending up all over the floor.
