• Yes it does shut off, when I Shredded A lot of paper I did turn off you have to unplug it and let it sit a little over an hour but it must be unplugged plug it back in and no problem and also make sure you use lubricated sheets You buy them separately it’s after you shred lots of paper The rulers move freely works better when you sweat a lot of paper
