• The lock button is for locking out the controls so kids don’t accidentally change your settings.

• The door doesn't lock. The lock button is for the control panel - they don't want someone accidentally changing the temperature (including changing it from freezer to fridge) or doing something else unintended so you need to press the lock button for 3 seconds before it lets you use the control panel.
