Since it always reads "0", it is the set point. I have a good quality thermometer in the freezer and it does run at 0 F. I've had it for three weeks or so and it seems to run fine. Only issue is that the door seals quite well and is a little difficult to open due to that strong seal. Instructions that came with the freezer are very basic. The display is not active until the door is opened or set point is changed
