“I have a Samsung 48 inch 6 years old. My wife and I are 83. The sound that comes out of the TV is so muffled we can not understand the words. Would a sound bar take care of this problem? Thanks for your help. Ham&eggs.”

Yes, a soundbar would definitely help your situation by providing louder clear sound. But I suggest buying a larger more powerful soundbar than this mini Insignia. It is very small and not very powerful.

Plus, even if you connect it with an optical cable, you can set the sound bar closer to where you're seated for closer sound (like on a coffee table?) If you connect with BlueTooth, then you can pretty mush put the sound bar anywhere within 30-40 feet of the TV... Give it a try, Best Buy has a good return program, so if it's still not great for you, bring it back to them...
