Yes, they can be hooked up to a HDTV through the ear jack on side of the tv

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Dude, if you're using THESE speakers with a Vizio TV, you're missing the ENTIRE point of HD anything. You're gonna need to spend some real money to get speakers that do that set justice. That said, you can't usually hook up an HD TV to 3.5mm jacks.

Please try again later.Try to use the headphone jack...if your TV does not have one...then you cannot use them (Plus you need the TV to have a POWERED USB jack to supply the power to the speakers.) Been there once, I used the R/L adapter...and I had no volume control - don't ask me why :-)
