The speakers have a transformer which converts household current into the voltage and amperage needed. You could bypass the transformer if you could provide the correct supply of power yourself, but since you're asking your question I'm inclined to think that's not likely. How long the speakers will last depends on the size of the battery and probably how loud you play the sound.
