It needs to have the door open to operate any of the controls. Annoyingly if pressed accidentally you will need to press DELAY 23 more times to start the washer. Also you need to Arm the thing by pressing start then closing the door. If it doesn't start then open the door ,press start so u hear only one beep, then close door. Blue led lights on floor. I think you mean in normal non washing time....so I would say if you shut the door complete the annoying dashed window is there only in certain modes. Put it in normal and it should go blank. Make sure air exchange is off or it will run every 6 hrs. Regarding current draw while off.....If you buy one of those smart eco switches you could see how much power it draws. Would be interesting to know .

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've had issues with this, too. If you don't remember to hit start, and then close the door within a few seconds, you are stuck in standby mode. You are supposed to be able to press and hold the start button for three seconds and clear the machine, but that does not work for me. Pressing "delay" until you cycle through 24 hours, back to '00" works.
