QuestionWhy is this cat 6 if insignia is saying its only good for 1Gbps speed? Isn't cat 6 supposed to handle 10Gbps up to 180 feet long?? What am I missing here? I have 2 Gig fiber internet and im thinking about 5 Gig.

- Answer The packaging the cable came in and my testing showed it was capable of 10Gbps as long as your equipment can use 10Gbps. There's a lot of consumer devices out there that still only have 1 Gbps network controllers, or even worse 100 Mbps such as the Roku Ultra

- Answer It could be your Ethernet card's maximum speed is the limit. It could be a setting on your computer. I suggest you bring it to Best Buy Geek Squad for troubleshooting.

- Answer Personally, the cable feels and looks very thick, with some sort of rubber coating on it, as most ethernet cables get really brittle, which actually warranted me purchasing this.

- Answer The CAT versions are set by the IEEE organization. You might see manufacturing defects but in many years of working in the computer industry, I have not run into a factory made cable that failed to pass signal as intended. Because copper wires can receive interference from electric wires and light fixtures, there are rules in which it should be run. If running along the side of 110/115v, it should be 1 foot away. If crossing 110/115v then you want to do so at 90 degrees. Florescent lights also cause interference. The quality of your equipment can also determine the speed as does the length of the run. It does no good to buy a CAT 6 cable if any of your gear is rated at 100MB.
