Sounds like I got your returned A/C.... same model, and same symptoms. It was re-sold to me by Best Buy as "Open Box - Excellent Condition".... doesn't work out of the box, now I'm stuck with it. Thanks!

Portable Air Conditioner is showing a P1 error code right after purchase, even though there’s no water to drain, it likely means the unit’s internal water tank sensor is either triggered or malfunctioning. The P1 code typically indicates that the water collection tank is full, but sometimes this can happen even when it’s dry due to a stuck float sensor or a misread by the system. To troubleshoot, first unplug the unit for at least five minutes to reset it. Then, manually open the bottom drain plug to release any possible trapped moisture—this can also help reset the sensor. Even if no water comes out, this step is important. Check for any kinks or blockages in the drain path, and gently tilt the unit backward to help any residual water reach the sensor or drain outlet. After that, plug it back in and power it on. If the error persists, the float sensor may be stuck or faulty, and you may need to contact Insignia support or consider exchanging the unit, especially since it’s brand new.
