“How much ventilation space does it need on each side? Can I push it right up against a wall at the back, if the right side is open? It looks like the vent is on the right side in the pictures.”

Its manual asks to allow 6 inches of space between the back and sides of the freezer and any grounding walls for proper ventilation.

There are space requirements listed in the manual; I think it was six inches from walls etc.

Yes you can push it up against the wall, however I wouldn't recommend it only because the top needs room to open without rubbing up against the wall.

Venting ports are on right side of unit and right side at back. Need 6 inches of clearance at those areas.

In both of the dorm rooms where we have used this freezer, we have sited it about 6 inches from any wall. No problems reported by either child.
