• The owners manual says stand upright for 2 hours before plugging unit in.

• It can be laid on its side. You will want to make sure it won't slide around if you are transporting it. You will also want to wait 24 hours after being set up right before plugging it in.

• We picked up the freezer in our SUV and it was on its side for about 30 minutes. We were told by the salesperson we should wait 48 hours before we plugged it in. Checked on the internet and most people said they waited over 24 hours before they plugged it in. We decided to follow the advice of the salesperson and waited 48 hours. Freezer is working great.
