The terminal connections are colored silver, brass, and green and each designates the wire to connect to each. If you don't understand the system of colors, you need to hire an electrician to complete the task. It's simple, but it could start a fire if not correctly installed.

Please try again later.I had almost the exact same problem when I installed one in my living room, I had power to some outlets and nothing on others turns out for some reason it shorted out a hallway light that was in the middle of the connection to the out outlets. Had to take the hallway light out and play with the wiring.
