Great product with USB fast charging
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.Bought three of these from BestBuy at a great price. Installation was a breeze and I am not even an electrician. First you turn the circuit breaker off for the plug you want to replace. You remove the old plug and install this one. Every connection is color coded and marked. Connect your black wire the the connector that is painted black, white wire to the opposite side and ground wire to the bottom connector. Couldn't be any easier. Took me about five minutes. Turn the breaker on and you are done. I have a Samsung Galaxy S9 that I used to test the USB port. Even though it didn't say that it was fast charging but the time to fully charge was about the same as when I plugged it with the OEM fast wall charger. Now I will be able to connect small kitchen appliances without disconnecting my wife's phone charger. I highly recommend this product. Wish I had bought more at that price.

4 Phones pugged in at Once
||Posted .Bought 3 of these when on sale, replaced two outlets above the kitchen counters with these and makes it nice when company comes over and as usual need to charge their phones, no longer searching for a place to plugin. Has charged various phones, iPhone/Android (with correct cords) and tablets with no issues and with two additional outlets one can even plug in 4 devices. Installation is simple, remove old outlet and replace. But be sure to turn off the breaker to kill the power to the outlet first. Wires attach easily using the screw lock tabs, slip the wire behind the tab and screw it tight. Tamper resistant plug outlet is a nice added feature with kids around.

Insignia USB charging outlets
||Posted .Installed the outlets with ease. No different than any other outlets like the ones sold at the home improvements stores. Good construction, nicely documented brochure and very straight forward. Tested the outlets and the USB charger and both work well. Granted, I have only had them installed for 2 weeks now, but so far so good. The USB charger has a total output of 3.6 Amps which is more than enough to charge a smartphone and a tablet at the same time.

Just awesome,,,,
||Posted .This USB outlet came in on time and the packaging was fantastic, The people at the store were friendly and courteous, The installation was a breeze and it has been nothing but flawless since I ordered it. I got it on clearance so it was very inexpensive but, even at the regular price it would have still been a deal. If you're in need of a USB charger or powered port that lets you still keep both outlets functional, than make sure you check this one out, it's a winner!

Works well! Worth $9!
||Posted .Got this Insignia USB outlet on sale for $9! Awesome deal! Get 2 or 3 of them and upgrade your outlets at home! Easy to install and it comes with a faceplate, a nice added bonus! It also has 2 USB ports which are fast enough to charge my iPad and my iPhone at the same time! Well worth the price!

Great value
||Posted .Instead of buying an extension cord or additional outlets, now I have an option of charging 2-4 usb devices at the same time just using this outlet. I bought 2, one installed on kitchen counter and one in the living room for guests.

Works pretty well
||Posted .Although it takes some time to figure out how to squeeze in all the wires after connecting, once it’s installed, this unit works pretty well. I don’t have to plug in usb chargers any more and this makes the look of the kitchen neat where iPad is always on and connected to a charger. Also the charging is done fast. I have been using this for quite sometime without any problem.

Slick in-wall outlet & USB charger
||Posted .We installed this over the desk in our kitchen. Took less than 15 minutes to install and it looks a lot neater than the wall wart chargers. Worked with all of the phones, iPads, USB batteries, etc that we tried to charge with it. The wall plate is heavy duty and feels very sturdy.

Q: QuestionWhat are the installation instructions? Do I need an electrician to install this? Do I have to remove the old wiring to install this?
Asked by redhead.
- A:Answer You first plug a lamp or other powered device in your old outlet and have someone on a cell phone turn off breakers one by one (or read the breaker labels first) until the lamp goes off. Then remove one screw to take the outlet cover off. Then remove two, longer screws, one top and one bottom to detach the old outlet from the electrical box embedded in the wall. Once the screws are fully out, grab the old outlet on each side and pull straight out. The power wires will unkink but still be stiff. There are three wires attached (sometimes 5). The green is ground, the black is power and the white is neutral. There may be two more wires, another black and white, which means the outlet is in series with more outlets and feeding power to them. Check to see that the white wires are connected to the old outlet side engraved "white." Then disconnect one wire at a time and put them on the new USB outlet, again making sure the white wires go on the side marked "white" (otherwise the polarized plug will be wired backwards). The original wires may be straight and pressed in or wrapped around a screw. If straight, us a small flat-blade screwdriver to push in the slot next to the wire and then pull on the wire, it should come out easily. If wrapped, unscrew the screw as far as you can and try to remove the wire. You may have to unbend it and rotate to get it off. If you are not going to reuse the old outlet you can also use extra force to unscrew the screw and remove from the outlet. Then install the wire on the USB outlet. If the wire is curled, you can straighten it with pliers and plug it in, or use as is on the new screw post. When all wires are installed and tightened, screw in any other unused screws and push the whole mess back into the box. It may take a few tries to get all the wires back in, making sure no bare wires (except the ground) are touching any metal. Then screw the outlet into the wall box and turn the breaker back on.

Q: QuestionIs this 3.6 amp on each outer or 1.3 on each with total of 3.6
Asked by Bev.
- A:Answer Hi! The total available output of the two USB ports is 3.6 amps, power is shared between the ports' therefore, when using just one of the USB ports, the full 3.6 amps are provided for the device you connect to it (such as fast-charging a tablet or smartphone). Q: QuestionCan I install this in a kitchen? Is it GFCI? (I know the answer, but judging from how many reviewers mention using this product in a kitchen, the answer needs to be emphasized.)
Asked by MeHere.
- A:Answer Yes, it can be installed in a kitchen, but not by itself. It doesn’t have its own GFCI protection. The two easiest options are to use a GFCI breaker on the circuit you want to install it on or (if you have multiple outlets on the circuit) install it in-line after a GFCI outlet using its daisy-chain option.

Q: QuestionI have aluminium wire in my house. Is this for both CU and AL or CU only?
Asked by Brian.
- A:Answer The manufacturer states that this device is not compatible with AL wiring. However, it is compatible with copper-clad aluminum which is more typical for residential wiring than the plain aluminum used briefly before being condemned. Copper clad aluminum will look like copper so a visual inspection should tell. Even so, I would recommend a dab of anti-oxidizing compound on the contacts in those circumstances to be safe. If your branch circuit wiring is original AL (not clad) then you should replace it. If you are unsure of what you have now for branch circuit wiring, consider adding another circuit (copper) for this receptacle.
