Less than you think. Most recommend 6 inches behind the washer for hoses. Clue- the metal hoses used by Best Buy are much narrower. A professional appliance repair owner told me 3 inches is plenty. This washer is BIG, in my small space. Note: They had to remove my washroom door in the basement to move in 25 inches wide, and 6 feet tall. I believe this washer is 27- 28 inches deep.
