“What gauge is it? I keep having to replace a short ethernet cable because connectivity starts dropping after a while and the computer says the cable might be broken. I'm wondering if I might have better luck with a higher gauge but it's in the specs.”

I don't know the gauge. But it worked on my connectivity issue and was worth the price to try and find out if it would work. (You can return to store within a reasonable period).
