This model of TV is capable of displaying a 1080 HD signal. This means the TV can display an HD signal if it receives one. Whether or not you need a box to get HD is going to depend on how your provider chooses to do HD.

You can view HD shows through your cable box, gaming console, Blue-ray player, Roku, Chromcast, etc... If your TV is 1080i or 1080p then you are HD ready. If it is at 720p then you are going to convert all media to the best image that TV can make.
