I've seen similar on my 720p NS-32D220NA18, however, the only time I recall seeing it is when my Bluray player starts up, so I assume it's saying the Bluray player is feeding it 1080p. But I'm not sure. In some cases, it does appear to be a little less sharp than our 40" 1080p TV, so I do believe it is 720p, but I haven't been able to figure out how to confirm that.

If you check the settings of the device(s) you're using, you should find an output setting where you can choose 1080p, 720p, and possibly Auto. That said, it really doesn't matter what the source is set to, as the set will compensate for higher resolution. I have a small 720p set, and I don't see any difference between the 1080 and 720 settings on my cable box.
